Tamron actually makes a 1.4x and a 2x specifically for the 150 - 600 as well as a couple other lenses. A bit spendy for the 1.4 at about $419. I went from the G1 to the G2 version of the lens. The upgrade to the G2 was great. My first copy of the G2 was one of the best lenses I have ever owned in 40 years of photography.
I have usually used a Canon 100-400L lens for baseball, or a Sony 70-400G lens if shooting with my Sonys. Under the lights I usually shoot either a Sigma 120-300/2.8 HSM OS or a Canon 300/4 L. The Sigma 150-600C, though, is giving me results that equal or better the 100-400L in these daylight shots. I like the look/price of the 150-600 sigma. How would the sigma at 600 compare to canon at 400 cropped? would the sigma be a lot better? My 70-200/2.8L IS II + 2x TC III at f/6.3 is as good as the 400/5.6 at f/5.6. The Sigma C out-resolves it at f/7.1, but only if other sources of blur (out-of-focus blur and motion blur) are virtually absent. The latest fine lensin our Contemporary line.
