Potential Owner - 2.2 Vs 2.0 Buying Advice. New to the forum as I'm looking at purchasing a 2015/16 Discovery Sport and would like some advice. Originally I was looking at 2.0 TD4 Ingenium cars but, even though my driving involves longer journeys, I've now decided on a 2.2 SD4 based on reading a lot of the advice on this forum. Pricing for the Discovery Sport is from $53,300 (+ORC) for the TD4 manual, our test SD4 (automatic) lists from $59,000 (+ORC) and Land Rover, like its European rivals, is offering a long list of Land Rover offered a goodwill gesture to affected owners, but sadly that’s not been the last of the Discovery Sport’s issues. Disappointingly, many owners have reported creaks and rattles from brand new cars, and other issues such as balancer shaft bearing and diesel particulate filter (DPF) failure.

Yes, the Disco Sport can now be had with a 2.0-litre turbocharged TD4 Ingenium engine, also featured on the Jaguar XE. It puts out 148bhp and 380Nm of torque, more than capable of propelling the 1,844kg vehicle with relative ease. Being a diesel, it has a punchy low end that is adept for getting up to speed, as well as overtaking manoeuvres.
