Personally, I use Liqui Moly 5w-40 Leichtlauf due to it being high-ash - and made specifically for VW turbos. The Motul oils are totally decent and worth buying, I just use LM as it comes in oil kits from DAP and ECS. Yea..well now that you've mentioned the liqui-moly, the price might end up being the deciding factor.
The oil drains down to the oil pan, unscrew the housing but do not remove completely. Let it sit for about 1 min (oil will drain down) and then remove the housing and replace the seal.
